Week 28, Feb. 26 - March 3
Thursday, February 26th
(91 days to go)
Dr. Appt. Today.
Follow
the link to see how it went. All I'll
tell you here is that Ella is still a "she".
:)
So in light of that, I went and bought her
more girly clothes. She's going to be the
cutest baby in town.

Friday, February
27th (90 days to go)
Today went by
without a phone call from the doctor's office.
If you don't know why that's a big deal,
then go check out the doctor appointment
update from yesterday. I'm not counting
myself in the clear until Monday goes by
without a phone call. But I'm feeling a
little bit lighter today.
Saw "The Passion of the Christ"
today. I took kleenex, and for good reason.
Though I'm going to say that I thought it
was going to be more gory than it was. Some
might think me crazy, but I think maybe
my imagination is bigger than some, and
I was imagining worse. But it was hard to
watch. What was amazing was that there were
so many people gleefully "punishing"
him. Did these people have the mentality
of a murderer? And what was also amazing
to me was that Jesus didn't die from all
that was done to him before he was crucified.
How he managed to carry the cross at all
is a wonder.
The baby is doing well today. She was moving
quite a bit during the movie... even kicking
me uncomfortably at one point. I try now
sometimes to get her to move whatever bump
is giving me discomfort. I think she has
her rearend backed up against my ribs sometimes.
Enough rambling from me for now.
Baby Update: By
now, the baby's body is composed of 2-3%
body fat. - "The Pregnancy Journal"

28th (89 days to go)
Baby Update: The baby's eyes unfuse and
open. - "The Pregnancy Journal"

Sunday, February

Baby Update: In the next day or so the baby's
eyes will be completely formed. - "The
Pregnancy Journal" by A. Christine
Harris, Ph.D.
Monday, March
1st (87 days to go)
Hoping to get through today without a phone
call from the doctor in regards to my gestational
diabetes test. If there's no phone call
then I'm in the clear.
Not much new to share. Just the usual Monday
stuff. So here's the new heartbeat
sound. And here is Baby Center's take
on development
at 28 weeks.
Baby Update: The baby's sucking and swallowing
skills are improving. - "The Pregnancy
Journal" by A. Christine Harris, Ph.D.
Tuesday, March
2nd (86 days to go)
It's a late entry today. Yesterday I got
a call from the doctor's office. I failed
the 1-hour gestational diabetes test. So
I went in this morning for the 3-hour glucose
tolerance test. I fasted again for 12 hours,
then at 9am they drew blood for a control
sample, then I drank an even more concentrated
version of the orange stuff I had last Thursday,
then each hour for 3 hours afterwards they
drew more blood... for a total of 4 pokes
in all! Two in each arm. And they hurt for
some reason. The third draw didn't go so
well... since I was dehydrated (not allowed
to drink water even) my blood didn't want
to come out... plus when you don't eat for
a long time your blood pressure lowers.
But I'm now drinking water and had lunch.
The doctor will get the results tomorrow,
and the nurse will get direction Thursday...
which will mean I'll either hear from her
if the results show I have gestational diabetes,
or I'll hear nothing and get a postcard
in the mail in a few day. Let's pray for
the latter!!! I feel like my diet is restricted
enough all ready. I don't know if I could
really handle the diet of a diabetic.
Anywho... enough about all that! Let's hope
I have nothing more like this to report
anytime soon.
Baby Update: Today
is a very significant day: [the] baby's
lungs are now capable of breathing air!

Wednesday, March
3rd(85 days to go)
Not a very productive day over here. The
stupid computer had to get it's operating
system re-installed, which means re-installing
a lot of stuff. Oddly enough, just the software
that Dell installed on the computer before
shipping it to me needs to be reinstalled.
So far we're back up and running, but Outlook
doesn't want to work so I've got another
call coming to Dell after I finish with
this. But as you can see, we can still communicate!!
So that's good.
Haven't heard from the doctor yet. It's
still early.
There's a new belly pic! Unlike last time,
when I thought there wasn't much of a change
from the two weeks before that, I think
it appears as though there's been another
substantial
growth spurt in the last 2 weeks. I
will say that my belly is now showing signs
of growth that will stay with me after the
baby is born. :( I knew it was coming, but
still...
Baby Update: Today, as Week 28 comes to
a close, [the] baby measures almost 10 inches
(from crown to rump) and weights 2 1/8 pounds
(actually... we know that Ella is probably
past 3 pounds now). In just two weeks, [the]
baby has gained 6 ounces (likely more) and
has grown 3/4 inch. - "The Pregnancy
Journal" by A. Christine Harris, Ph.D.
